documentary portrays the dramatic life of a
Chinese woman, who has very complicated life
experience as an orphan, a communist soldier, a
singer and a Christian Musician, spending her
whole life seeking faith. There 're a lot of
questions and conflicts in this life story.
During Xu Mu’s different life stages, she
experienced many big waves of society in China
up and down.
One of the directors, Zhao Tianyu is the film
character Xu Mu’s younger son. By recording the
stories happened in his own family, he tried to
find out the truth behind the faith ; the
relationship between truth and faith by his
mother and family members. What are they looking
for in their faith? Is faith a power to help
them to face the truth of it just a place to
avoid their true life? |

has different identities in different times:

out of their love to the enchanting boss, or
their desire to her property, or maybe jealousy,
a complex feeling arises between these two
men... At the night before the wedding ceremony,
he, or maybe the other man, stabs at the other,
and then jumps off the tower. The next day, two
dead men, are still alive. One of the men sees
the wedding between the other man and Xie
Chunhua taking place amid the sea of plastic
flowers Is it purely imagination or just another
pathetic reality?

the virtual world…

China'04. It's a
suspense-fantasy –drama of Chinese internet café
culture, based on real events.
Qiu Dong (Gao Feng)
works in a fish store and is preparing for his
wedding, but his passion is playing interactive
role-playing games in an internet café in
downtown Wuhang, central China . He becomes
obsessed with his fantasy identity in the game
as a swordsman trying to ascend to the ‘last
level' and avenge a mysterious bride dressed in
white. To the point that he fails to return
home, abandons his job, then his fiancés, then
any pre-tense of living in the ‘ outside world'.
During an astonishing 60 straight days of
inhabiting the internet café, his role playing
fantasies spill into his waking life. The film
alternates between scenes in his fantasy world
and vivid vignettes played out in the
semi-underground internet café society: a
runaway youth is confronted by his parents; an
anonymous internet lover tracks down his shocked
beloved; cops try to bust the place for staying
open illegally past midnight. In the end, it's
really not so clear where ‘reality' ends and
‘fantasy' begins.
